How much data you need in Iceland

Maps and boarding passes are small. Video and a laptop hotspot are what move the meter. A city week often fits in 5–10 GB. Two weeks with tethering usually wants 15–20 GB, or an unlimited plan whose daily cap is printed in GB.

Install and activate before you land in Iceland

Install on home Wi-Fi. Keep the home line for SMS and bank codes, with data roaming off on that line. Turn data roaming on only for the travel eSIM. Prefer a plan whose clock starts at the first attach in the country.
